Things to Do in Taghazout: A Local Guide with Jamal

Looking for things to do in Taghazout? Start with a surf lesson, leave an evening for the dunes, and give yourself some time to simply enjoy the village. You do not need to fill every hour to have a good trip here.

I’m Jamal, a local surf coach, guide and accommodation co-host from the Agadir region. Through Taghazout Discovery with Jamal, I help visitors arrange surf sessions, local trips and places to stay. This is my guide to putting those experiences together without making your holiday feel like a timetable.

A little village time belongs in every Taghazout itinerary.

1. Try a surf lesson in Taghazout

If surfing has been sitting on your “one day” list, a holiday here is a good chance to try it. You can come on your own or bring friends; you do not need to arrive with your own equipment.

My standard group surf session is listed at €29 per person, with a surfboard, wetsuit and transport included. Sessions last around 2–2½ hours. The beach is chosen for your level and the conditions, so the meeting and pickup details matter more than picking a famous surf spot in advance.

For a first lesson, tell me how comfortable you feel in the water. We can talk through what to expect and choose an appropriate plan. There is no pressure to make your first session look like someone else’s Instagram video.

2. Go sandboarding at the Timlalin dunes

For a change from the ocean, head out to the Timlalin dunes. This is an outing beyond Taghazout village: sandy slopes, Atlantic views and time outside as the light changes.

The sunset sandboarding package on my website starts at €29 per person and includes transport, boards and Moroccan tea. Allow roughly 4½–5 hours for the outing, with your exact departure and pickup confirmed when booking.

The planned route includes a coastal drive via Aghroud, a canyon walk and sandboarding before tea at sunset. Conditions can change the plan, and a bonfire is dependent on conditions rather than a guaranteed part of every trip.

You do not have to spend the whole time riding. Leave a moment to enjoy the view, take a few photos and catch your breath between walks back up the dune.

An evening in the dunes is a lovely contrast to a morning in the water.

3. Add quad biking to your sandboarding trip

Want a more active afternoon? The website also lists a sandboarding and quad package at €39 per person, plus a duo option at €69 total for two people. Compare the inclusions before choosing: a combined outing and a standalone quad ride are different plans.

Ask me about the riding duration, whether the quad is shared, the requirements for riders and the pickup arrangements. Having those details clear beforehand makes it easier to choose the right experience for your group.

4. Take a half-day trip to Paradise Valley

Paradise Valley is another option when you fancy a break from the coast. Think palms, mountain scenery and a different pace for part of the day.

I arrange trips by enquiry, with the route, current conditions and group quote discussed before booking. If swimming is important to you, ask about the water conditions first rather than planning around a photograph taken in a different season.

Bring comfortable walking shoes, drinking water and sun protection. Tell me if you prefer a gentler outing so we can discuss what suits you.

5. Leave time for Taghazout village and the beach

Not every good memory needs a reservation. Walk through the village, pause by the fishing boats and choose somewhere to sit with a view of the water. A slow breakfast or an unplanned evening walk can be just as welcome as an organised activity.

My suggestion is to leave some space around your excursions. After a surf session, you may want lunch and a quiet afternoon more than another pickup time. If you are staying in nearby Tamraght or Agadir, factor your journey back into the day too.

A relaxed three-day Taghazout itinerary

  • Day one: Arrive, settle into your accommodation and explore the village. Keep the evening easy.
  • Day two: Take a surf lesson, have an unhurried lunch and enjoy some beach time.
  • Day three: Choose Paradise Valley for a change of scenery or an afternoon sandboarding trip to Timlalin.

This is a starting point, not a fixed package. Swap days around to suit availability, weather and your energy. If surfing is your main reason for coming, leave room for another session instead.

Where to stay and how to arrange your arrival

I also help with rooms and apartments. Send your dates, guest count and budget, and tell me which facilities matter most. Some private rooms have shared bathrooms, kitchens or rooftops; apartment facilities depend on the individual property.

You can explore stays in Taghazout and follow the Airbnb link to browse available listings. For arrival planning, see the Agadir airport transfer page. Have your flight details, passenger count and destination ready so the pickup and fare can be confirmed.

Questions before booking

Can I join a surf lesson alone?

Yes, solo visitors can enquire about joining a session. Send your date and experience level, and I will check availability.

Can I book if I am staying in Tamraght or Agadir?

Yes, send your accommodation location when you enquire. Pickup arrangements and any applicable costs depend on the activity and are confirmed before booking.

Is the €20 offer available for one person?

The €20-per-person promotion is for a booking of four guests, subject to confirmation for the activity and date. It is not the individual booking price. Check the current website package or ask me for the total for your group.

How do I confirm an activity?

Send your preferred date, number of guests, chosen activity and where you are staying. I will reply with availability, pickup details, inclusions and the total. Sending an enquiry does not by itself confirm a booking.
